[000023] Barclaii, Jo.;(Barclay, John), Argenis – Nunc Primum Illustrata WITH Archombrotus et Theopompus Sive Argendis Secunda & Tertia Pars, Ex Officina Hackiana, Lugduni Batavorum (Leiden) Roterodami (Rotterdam), 1664, First Thus, Good. Full Calf, 8vo. Two volumes – Volume One – [28], 639pp, [13] and Volume Two – [32], 624pp, [14].

Later (late-eighteenth century) full-calf, raised bands, spines in six panels, contrasting title / volume labels to second and third panels, volute corner pieces and central lozenge shaped tool to remaining panels, gilt flower head frame to covers, all edges marbled with blue paste endpapers.

Author label to volume two chipped with loss, slightly chipped to head of spines, covers slightly scuffed, joints split with small amount of loss, but holding well on cords. Internally lightly browned, with slightly heavier browning to edges. Previous owner’s name to first page of text in each volume. Engraved titles.
