Lightly browned and very lightly creased, but generally quite bright and clean

Relating to the Sebastopol Committee of 1855, relating to the condition of the British Army in Crimea. The Radical M.P. John Arthur Roebuck led calls for an inquiry into the state of the army, the House of Commons endorsed this, and Lord Aberdeen’s government interpreted this as a vote of no confidence and resigned. Sidney Herbert (the Member for South Wilts.) and had been responsible for the War Office during the Crimean War. He was also instrumental in getting Florence Nightingale to lead a team of nurses out to Crimea

The printer James Bennett of Salisbury (fl. 1851), also printed the Salisbury & Winchester Journal
