Four volumes complete – Volume One – xix, , 310pp; Volume Two – , 264pp; Volume Three – , 268pp and Volume Four – , 292pp,  index and  adverts. Contemporary full calf, smooth spines divided into six panels by gilt thick rules, running title label to second panel, title and volume to third, large flower head tool to centre of fifth with small fleuron corner pieces, remaining panels gilt with small lozenge tool and leafy stems.
Rubbed, especially to outer joints, but all holding well, corners bumped. minor chipping to head of spine of volume one, with small chip to title label of first volume. Internally browned to edges of endpapers, text with sporadic light foxing, but generally clean, plates lightly browned and foxed with some off setting.
Engraved frontispiece to volume one, dated 1754, by Salvador after R. Gardelle and five engraved plates by Cochin (two in volume one and one each as a frontispiece in the other three volumes) as called for.
Quite an attractive set, probably originally bound as part of a made up set of Rousseau given the running title label.
