Contemporary half roan and marbled paper over boards, smooth back divided into seven panels by gilt single rules, author and title lettered directly to second panel, remaining panels with central oval gilt device.
Foot of spine heavily chipped with loss, edges and corners worn, leather to spine split but holding and a little weak. Internally some light foxing, mainly to edges and margins, but occasionally to text and engravings especially towards the rear, but nothing too obtrusive. Previous owners book plate to front pastedown (William Garnett).
