On Wednesday the 22nd March, at 6 o’clock, in the Black Bull Hall. Glasgow: Allan & Ferguson, First Edition. 48mo (Oblong). Unbound. Ticket. Good. Thomson, a chemist, was President of the Glasgow Philosophical Society from 1834 until his death in 1852. He was “largely responsible for changing the moribund society dominated by artisans into an intellectually and administratively competent one” (DSB:XIII:373)
Likely to have been 1848 (the other years when the day matches the date according to the universal calendar are 1837 and 1843). For Thomson see the DSB:XIII:372-374).
