Rubbed to extremities. Internally an occasional hint of foxing, offsetting from frontispiece on to title, some very light off setting from other illustrations, but generally quite bright and clean. Small bookseller’s label to reverse of marbled front endpaper. Armorial bookplate of Sir William Eden to front pastedowns

With an engraved portrait frontispiece of Defoe engraved by Freeman, and sixteen illustrations by J.G. Strutt, “whose etchings of trees, published as Sylva Britannica and Deliciae Sylvarum, had recently bought him a great reputation” (Sadleir II, page 109).
