Contemporary full-calf, raised bands, spine in six panels, morocco title label to second panel, volume label to third, remaining panels with central lozenge and volute corner pieces, combed marbled endpapers, all edges marbled.
Rubbed to extremities, scrape to upper cover of volume two, outer joints split but well held by cords, spine ends chipped, corners bumped and worn with small amount of loss to covering leather. Internally light browning to text, but tolerably bright. Previous owner’s armorial bookplate to front pastedowns (Sir Edmund Antrobus).
The second volume has another work with a separate title page, “The Secret History of Lewis XI” by John de Troyes, with separate pagination but continuous register, printed by John Philips in 1722 (as per Estc)
