Good. Four volumes complete – Volume One – [4], viii, 389pp, [1]; Volume Two – [4], xxiii, [1], 467pp, [1]; Volume Three – xvii, 431pp, [1] and Volume Four – xxiv, 415pp, [1].

Contemporary full mottled calf, smooth backs divided into six panels, leather title to second panel, matching volume label to fifth, remaining panels with central flower device, marbled endpapers.

Spines rubbed, very slightly chipped to ends, slightly split to outer joints but holding well, corners bumped and worn.

Internally some light browning and staining, occasional small ink stains to margins, small piece missing from fore-edge of final blank to volume one, but generally fairly clean. Previous owner’s bookplate to front pastedown (removed from volume two). Portrait frontispiece to volume one.

The second edition of this edition of Burns, first printed in Liverpool in 1800.
