A notice to menials and servants that if through negligence or carelessness any houses were set on fire, they would be subject to a fine of one hundred pounds, and in the (likely) event of them not being able to pay such a fine, they would be sent to gaol for eighteen months of hard labour. This notice was to be “affixed in some conspicuous place, in view of your servants”
