The book is Good in a Fair DJ, with browning, water staining and slight chipping

The earlier rejected design (with the soot coming out of one side of the chimney only) is approximately 255mm x 265mm in size on thin card, with the actual design used being 215mm x 290mm, and laid on to a board 265mm x 380mm in size

Walter Greenwood, best known for his Love on the Dole (1933), had met Wragg in 1936 “whilst he was on holiday in Polperro, and the pair, who both came from Northern backgrounds, hit it off exceptionally well, for they shared similar views on the state of modern society” (Tovey, Polperro, Cornwall’s Forgotten Art Centre, Volume II Post 1920, page 165)
