Split to head of lower joint of volume one, volume two rebacked with some lifting of original back strip, volume three recased with new plain endpapers stuck over the top of the original marbled endpapers. Internally the frontispiece and title of volume one are foxed, titles of other volumes also lightly foxed, with some sporadic light foxing to text, but generally fairly clean

Volume one with a portrait frontispiece, double page map of Hertfordshire and seven tinted plates; volume two with eight tinted plates; and volume three with five tinted and two untinted plates (for a total of twenty-two plates as called for)

A decent working set of one of the standard county histories of Hertfordshire
