Worn to extremities, paper covering boards heavily worn. A couple of sections proud, leading to wear and browning to fore edges, lightly browned internally, occasionally heavier, some foxing and light staining, plates often lightly stained, frontispiece and additional engraved title foxed and browned, small amount of loss to fore edge margin of the ‘Trussing’ plate

With an engraved frontispiece by Pigot, additional engraved title (dated 1822), and eleven plates as called for. There is an appendix, bound after the index, on the ‘Management of Kitchen and Fruit Gardens’, repeating some of the pagination of the index

The frontispiece, additional engraved title, and engraved plates were probably engraved by James Pigot (c.1769-1843), a Manchester engraver, or possibly his son, also James (1798-1857), see Alexander, A Biographical Dictionary of British and Irish Engravers 1714-1820, page 702)

This first edition is uncommon, showing at Leeds only in Library Hub. See Oxford page 161, for the 1827 edition, otherwise not in the standard bibliographies
