Lightly creased, a couple of small spots of foxing, ink tax stamp to head, bottom right hand corner grubby, but generally quite bright and clean
Printed on yellow paper, with interesting use of type, though not always the easiest to read. Presumably aimed mainly at the English tourist trade
The second of two ascents made by Charles Green the balloonist (1785-1870) in Paris, this being his 228th ascent. Green had, the previous month, set a new world record for the distance travelled in a balloon, taking off from Vauxhall Gardens, and eventually landing in the Duchy of Nassau (in Germany), approximately 500 miles. Before returning home he stopped off in Paris, and made two ascents
