Very slightly browned to edges, very minor creasing, reverse with light glue stains and paper remnants where once stuck in an album, otherwise quite bright and clean
The Woodburytype vignettes to each corner are pasted on
In 1878 control of the Forest passed from the Crown to the Corporation of London (The Epping Forest Act), and is still controlled by them
Printed by Blades, East and Blades, a similarly printed invitation to a reception for the Prince of Wales (though printed by S. W. Rowsell & Son) is shown in Twyman’s A History of Chromolithography, page 200
An extraordinary survival, dated Thursday 14th October, 1875, and still complete with the usually detached coupons on the left hand side, including the railway pass to the event ‘by special train from Liverpool St’
