Good+ / No Jacket (as Issued). Three volumes complete – Volume One – [1], ii-xv, [3], 19-244pp, [2]; Volume Two – [4], 251-600pp, [2]; Volume Three – [4], 607-884pp, [2]. Publisher’s quarter vellum and cloth over boards, smooth backs divided into four panels by gilt rolls, title, author, and volume stars to first panel, remaining panels gilt with small quadrilobe tools joined by dotted lines, small central block to upper panel, t.e.g.

Very minor wear to extremities, the second and third volumes with some light rubbing to cloth, probably from slipcases having been slightly damp at some stage, internally some browning to endpapers and the title of the second volume, but otherwise quite bright and clean. In the original slipcases, which are a little worn, with bumping to corners, a couple of small splits, and some evidence of light mottling

Signed by Wells to the limitation leaf of the first volume. One of one hundred and ninety-eight sets (with another twenty for presentation)
