Description

[002998] [Ipswich Steam Navigation Company]. Two Printed Documents Relating to the Ipswich Steam Navigation Company. No Place: No Publisher, 1827. First Edition. Folio. Unbound. Pamphlet. Good. Two documents, approximately 210mm x 325mm in size.

Creased, slightly chipped and torn to folds and corners, but without loss of text.

Firstly a document dated Nov. 17th 1827, which is a statement of weekly outgoings and income for shareholders, noting the breakdown of the ship ‘The Suffolk’, losing seven weeks of income “in the most favourable part of the Season. Discouraged by this circumstance, the Committee has reason to think many of the Proprietors are inclined to dissolve the connection altogether”.

This evidently was the conclusion, as the next document is from the Secretary of the Company, noting that it had been resolved unanimously “that under the circumstances in which the Society is placed, it would be desirable and proper that it should be dissolved, and we do hereby consent to and approve of a dissolution of the said Society accordingly”, signed by the Secretary to foot. However the Suffolk Record Office has articles of co-partnership and lists of shareholders dated 1838
