Boards slightly warped from damp, with some light staining to covers. Some minor colour bleed from the cloth onto the edges of the endpapers, but the text and plates are generally quite bright and clean
Presentation copy from Wragg, with inscription to ffep, ‘For Martin from Raggy (Christmas, Polperro 1944)’
A non-standard binding, presumably by the publishers for the author to give away
The pictures illustrate Jesus’s cries from the cross, and “show a new departure in Wragg’s art away from the realistic and towards the surreal” (Brook, Arthur Wragg, page 89)
