A couple of small holes, a few spots of light foxing, minor soiling, lightly creased
Tissue for the Lord Mayor’s show, participants included two hundred and thirty-nine scouts, and seven maids of honour, including one from Canada, and one from Malta. There was also a Shakespearean tableaux, with Henry V, Falstaff, Richard III, and Henry VIII with Wolsey
The Lord Mayor was Sir Vezey Strong, who was a paper merchant
The tissues were imported from Japan, pre-printed with decorative borders, with the central portion left blank to be filled in with the event to be commemorated. These were often (poorly) printed by Mrs. [Sarah] Burgess, who printed many of these items. They were then sold, generally for a penny, at the events as souvenirs
